Some Secret Sargents… Sargent Season: The V&A This one is short, because the V&A’s Sargent is not on the walls. It is in the study rooms, which means you have to ask for it, and I want to tell you right now that you should. Email the Prints and Drawings Study Room at the V&A,…

    My Work

I’m a painter first. Everything else I do, the writing, the gallery visits, the curatorial thinking, all kind of feeds back into the studio. This is where I show what that looks like.

How it Started…

I grew up watching my grandmother paint. I don’t think I understood then that artwork was something people did seriously, intentionally, as a way of seeing the world, I just knew coloring within the lines was fun and staining all my clothes was a given. Art was always just there in my life, something in the air of my childhood that I never thought to question.

At some point it became something more deliberate. I started wanting to understand not just how to make it but how to be around it. How to walk into a room full of work and actually know what I was doing there. This blog is my attempt to figure that out, one gallery at a time.
